When installing tile in your bathtub or shower, it is crucial to ensure proper preparation. The drywall and backerboard must be of the same thickness. Additionally, the walls should be flat. Shim the walls to guarantee that your backerboard is completely even. Tape the seams with fiberglass tape and thin-set mortar. Use high-quality backerboard screws to secure the board to the walls, recess the screws, and cover them with thin-set. Leave a gap between the tub and the board, and seal it with silicone caulk. You are now ready to begin tiling.
